The Tumble is a cupboard where the user does not need to open the door, but where gravity does the work!
By simply tilting the small wooden lever on top of the Tumble cabinet slightly forwards, the door begins to fall open in a subtle and gentle way. The nice thing is: you wouldn't expect the door to open with this simple action, let alone with a graceful and slow 'swing'! The movement is surprisingly poetic and a delight to the eye.
Available in a number of standard colours which we change from time to time. Feel free to visit our showroom or contact us to see what is available. On request custom colors are also possible.

Transparency of the production chain comes naturally to us.
For us, that doesn't just mean giving information about where something has been produced. Our chain starts much earlier: with the designer of the product!

The Tumble cabinet was designed by Koen Devos. Koen has a passion for the simplicity of objects. In his Design he looks for big, but sometimes small, unexpected surprises. The inspiration for the Tumble cupboard came from fences which you often come across on footpaths.
"Doors are usually opened with a handle. These handles are sometimes hidden or emphasised, but they are always present. While most cupboards use the same hinges or sliding mechanisms, there are other ways to open a door. This inspired me to create a cupboard at Design where the user doesn't have to open the door, but gravity does the work!"Koen Devos

The Tumble cupboard has been part of the Vij5 collection since 2015. When we present Vij5 at trade fairs and exhibitions we always keep our eyes open for interesting new Design for the Vij5 collection. The surprising movement with which the Tumble cabinet opens was spotted by Arjan during Kortrijk Interieur. A few weeks later, the cupboard was awarded a Reddot design award!
After the fair we met with Koen to discuss our possible collaboration, resulting in a new and striking product for our collection. The prototypes of the cabinets were made by Koen himself. Together we looked for a suitable manufacturer who could make the cabinets for us in an efficient way. We also added two oak shelves to the inside of the cabinet, making the cabinet more functional.
All you have to do is tilt the wooden stick on top of the cabinet slightly forward and you'll be treated to a pleasant surprise!Arjan & Anieke
The Tumble cupboard is entirely produced in Hulst (NL) by a manufacturer who is very good at the total picture from basic material to finish. The cabinets are made of MDF and are lacquered in an automatic lacquering line according to the colour after which they are assembled and packed in-house.
The cabinets are made in relatively small series and therefore we change the colours regularly.
In the material passport you can find where and by whom the different parts of this product are made.
