This stackable chair is sturdy and stable thanks to its clear design and clever wood construction.
The frame provides such stability that the chair can be subjected to extremely high loads according to NEN-EN 16139 level 2. Something quite special for a wooden chair!
Both the backrest and the seat are made up of facets that give the chair an idiosyncratic silhouette and at the same time improve seating comfort.
The chair is available with a coloured HPL top layer or in an upholstered version, made with Kvadrat fabric, and is suitable for both project use and residential applications.
The HPL version of the 's-Chair is available in three standard colours. Other colours are also available on request.
The upholstered version of the 's-Chair is available in three standard colours. Alternatives from the Kvadrat Rime series are also available on request.
Transparency of the production chain comes naturally to us.
With us, that doesn't just mean giving information about where something has been produced. Our chain starts much earlier: with the designer of the product!
We'll tell you the whole story. Click on the buttons to discover the different steps:
The 's-Chair was designed by Jeroen Wand. With his studio in Eindhoven, he researches the raw, unpolished side of design, developing objects, products, installations and environments that encourage people to find alternative forms of what is beautiful or pleasant.
Whereas with other chairs one type of wood is often chosen, Jeroen used a combination of solid oak and plywood parts for the 's-Chair. This ensures that the chair has an uncomplicated but rich look that matches various interior styles.
The same material combination can also be found in the matching 's-Table from the same series.

The 's-Chair has been part of the Vij5 collection since 2014. Because Jeroen has his studio close to ours, we regularly get an early preview of his new projects. This stackable chair attracted our attention because of its characteristic shape, the coloured surfaces and the unique combination of solid oak and plywood.
Some designers are already very far with a product when we come into contact with them. That was the case with the 's-Chair, for example. Jeroen originally designed the chair for the education space of the Stedelijk Museum 's-Hertogenbosch (hence the 's-) and had already developed the chair himself. Together we also developed an upholstered version. In consultation with our upholstery partner, we designed the upholstery in such a way that it retains the same facets as the HPL version.
All plywood parts of the frame and the solid oak legs are produced in Meppel (NL).
After that everything comes to the studio & workshop of designer Jeroen Wand in Eindhoven (NL) where the chairs are assembled by hand.
The upholstered version of the chair is processed by our fixed upholsterer in 's-Hertogenbosch (NL).
In the material passport you can find where and by whom the different parts of this product are made.
The 's-Chair is certified in accordance with the NEN standard for "Areas in which seats are occasionally or repeatedly exposed to extremely high loads due to their specific type of use or due to improper use".NEN-EN 1619 level 2

For the upholstered version we use the Kvadrat fabric 'Rime'. Rime is a woolen upholstery fabric that has a melange-like look from a distance. Each of Rime's colours combines a bright tone with a hue. For some colour schemes, which combine similar shades, Rime appears to be one-coloured. In others, where the contrast is stronger, the structure of the textile is much more pronounced.
On request there are also other colours possible from the beautiful Kvadrat Rime series, this can be from 4 pieces!
