The Precious Memories photo frames are simply and thoughtfully designed. They consist of only a few simple parts: a colored wooden block, a glass panel, an aluminum back plate and a wooden wedge to hold everything firmly in place. The wooden block is finished with a colored linseed oil for a subtle, natural look.

In addition to the stylish design, the frames are also practical to use. They offer an easy way to give photos, drawings or postcards a nice place and are available in different sizes. By combining them, you can easily create your own personal landscape of memories, giving your favorite moments a visible and lasting place in your interior. Thanks to the smart design, you can easily change the image, and the frame can be used both horizontally and vertically. An ideal way to give photos from your phone a permanent place!

The Precious Memories photo frames are designed by Isabel Quiroga. Isabel lives and has her studio and workshop in Amsterdam.

Isabel is known for her designs that uniquely combine imagination and functionality. Her focus is on the purpose and practical usability of a product, while her innovative approach always finds a subtle balance between functionality and originality. She carefully adjusts and refines each design until it results in well-thought-out creations that excel in both form and function.

The Precious Memories photo frames are a beautiful example of Isabel's organic Design process. As a collector of small materials, she had a collection of (residual) wooden blocks that eventually served as inspiration for the feet of the frames. By using different sizes and colors, the design offers the possibility to create a personal landscape of memories. The photo frames invite you to experiment with combinations, making them perfect for a unique and personal presentation.

With this Design, Isabel emphasizes the importance of tangible memories. By consciously choosing images to print, you take them off your phone screen and make them part of your daily life. This way, memories not only become visible, but also gain more meaning and depth.

The Precious Memories photo frames have been officially part of our Vij5 collection since 2025. We have known Isabel Quiroga for years and regularly met her at various exhibitions. Her work has always inspired us, so when Isabel approached us with her Design for the Precious Memories photo frames, we immediately knew that this would fit perfectly within our collection. The Design seamlessly aligns with our Design vision through its beautiful simplicity and thoughtful details.

Isabel's idea behind the Precious Memories photo frames also immediately appealed to us: emphasizing the value of beautiful memories. These photo frames offer an elegant way to present photos, drawings, small artworks, or postcards. The Design literally places memories on a pedestal, with glass and aluminum firmly holding the image, supported by a wooden wedge. This clever and minimalist system makes it not only functional but also visually appealing.

Our collaboration started with a preview of Isabel's original, handmade series during the OBJECT Rotterdam design fair in 2024. This series sold out within a short time, which was a clear signal for us to proceed with a production series. The enthusiasm of our visitors and customers confirmed that these photo frames are not only a wonderful addition to the Vij5 collection, but also inspire people to MAKE their memories tangible and valuable.

For the production series of the Precious Memories photo frames, we were able to build on a beautiful handmade series that Isabel had previously MADE. This gave us a strong foundation to further refine the Design. As with many other products in the Vij5 collection, we made a number of small adjustments in consultation with Isabel to MAKE the Design easier to produce and more affordable, without compromising the original look and quality. For example, we chose a different material for the back panel and had the wooden feet produced in fixed sizes. We also determined the colors together, which also created more clarity in terms of stock management. These types of optimizations help us to bring structure and peace to the production process, while remaining true to the original Design.

We then searched for the right partners to help us realize these photo frames. Finding the perfect producers is always essential to guarantee the quality we stand for!

The base of the picture frames is made from a solid piece of FSC approved ash wood and is produced in Lithuania. It arrives untreated in our workshop, where we manually coat the blocks with Satin Wood Oil (colored linseed oil from Denmark).

The wooden wedges are made of FSC approved pinewood and are made in our workshop.

The glass panels are MADE of float glass, which has a very smooth surface without irregularities. Standard glass is not anti-reflective, which means that you can compare its reflection to that of window glass. The glass panels are MADE in Germany by a company that has more than 20 years of experience.

The aluminum panels are laser cut and MADE by our steel producer in Duizel and then Powder coating in Valkenswaard. Powder coating does not contain any hazardous solvents and the overspray is reused, so there is virtually no waste. This not only saves costs, but is also better for the environment compared to conventional liquid coatings, which produce hazardous waste.

We work from an easily accessible industrial hall (2 minutes from the A2) near the residential boulevard of Den Bosch. Most products can be seen here, but at the moment the showroom is in use for another large project. So please get in touch and especially let us know what you'd like to see, and we'll see what's possible!
