Discover the design of the Coatrack by the Meter, a contemporary interpretation of the classic Shaker wall coat rack. Inspired by by the Shakers’ minimalist approach, this design eliminates everything that is superfluous. The base of this wall coat rack consists of a square metal rod from which a hook is laser-cut every ten centimeters. The hooks are then bent outward by hand. The hole created with by to the hook provides space to screw the coat rack to the wall.
PLEASE NOTE: This is a “Special Edition” of the “ Coatrack by the Meter ,” which is not normally part of our collection! It’s a series we created for a customer, and we made extra units because there’s often some wastage. The coating (especially on the inside) isn’t as perfect as we’d like it to be. You may also see some “grit” from the laser cutter. That’s why we’re offering a discount.
The imperfections in the coating are caused by the following:
“To create the fluorescent look, the tubes are first coated with a milky-pink base coat. Because of the ‘Faraday cage’ principle and the fact that Powder coating works with static electricity, it is more difficult to coat the inside of the tubes. That is why they are coated a second time with the same milky-pink base coat to ensure perfect coverage.
And then the magic happens: a third transparent layer is applied, and the colour turns… FLUOR orange!
"The FLUOR colour is applied everywhere, but if you look closely, you can still see the milky pink colour on the inside of the first coat in some places. This is part of the production process."
The Coatrack by the Meter can be easily mounted on the wall with screws. The product comes with two wall anchors and two screws of the correct size.
The designer of the Coatrack by the Meter, Maarten Baptist, has a passion for industrial tube laser cutting. He used this technique to create a coat rack with minimal waste. Each Coatrack starts with a square metal bar, from which a hook is precisely cut every ten centimeters using advanced laser technology. The hooks are then bent outward, resulting in a sleek and functional design.
After this meticulous manufacturing process, the coat racks are powder-coated in a variety of standard colors. For larger orders, we also offer the option to explore custom color choices, so that the Coatrack by the Meter perfectly complements any interior.
