David Derksen proves that stable constructions can be created by folding a thin sheet of copper with his Copper & Brass Lights.
The folding principle defines both the shape and the aesthetics of the lamps, creating a delicate but refined series of lamps.
The BL28 LED is a new version of David Derksen's famous Brass Lights. The shape of the lamp is constructed by simply folding a 0.3 mm thin brass sheet: by means of an etching technique the bending lines are inserted into the material, after which they are folded by hand and assembled in Eindhoven.
Where the original series of Brass Lights use the more traditional E27 light sources, David created this new version of the lamp to meet current requirements in the field of lighting DESIGN. The new lamp therefore contains LED light and a diffuser that ensures a better and brighter light output, regardless of the color of the lampshade. The LED driver is integrated into the lamp. The shape of the lamp has also been simplified and modernized, without losing the aesthetics and fragility of the original Brass Lights. Due to the reflection of the environment in the shiny brass surfaces, each facet gets its own color tone, from dark gold to yellow to beige.
