's-Chair | stackable design dining chair in solid oak, plywood and HPL, seat height 46cm
by Jeroen Wand
This stackable chair is sturdy and stable thanks to a clear design and clever wood construction. Both the backrest and seat are composed of facets that give the chair a quirky silhouette while enhancing seating comfort.
The frame provides so much stability that the chair can be exposed to extremely high loads according to NEN-EN 16139 level 2. Something quite special for a wooden chair!
The chair is available with a colored HPL top layer (as shown here) or in an upholstered version made with Kvadrat fabric and is suitable for both project use and residential applications.
The HPL version of the 's-Chair is available in three standard colors. Other colors are also available upon request.
This chair belongs to the 's-Table and has the same quirky combination of solid oak with plywood and HPL as the table in the series. Of course, the chair is also very nice to combine with other design tables!

Description
The 's-Chair was designed by Jeroen Wand. Jeroen originally designed the chair for the education room of the Stedelijk Museum 's-Hertogenbosch (hence the 's-). With his studio in Eindhoven, he explores the raw, unpolished side of design, developing objects, products, installations and environments that encourage finding alternative forms of what is beautiful or pleasant.
Whereas other furniture often chooses one type of wood, here Jeroen used an idiosyncratic combination of solid oak and plywood parts. This ensures that the chair has an uncomplicated but rich look that matches various interior styles. The same material combination can also be found in the matching 's-Table from the same series.
The HPL top layer provides color, but is also a multi-functional and abrasion-resistant material. HPL is short for High Pressure Laminate, or "high pressure laminate. An HPL panel consists of a wood fiber or paper core and two top layers that are pressed together under high pressure and at a high temperature. This creates a very dense, hard and dimensionally stable board. The material does not hold dirt and is easy to clean. HPL is durable because it has a very long lifespan.
