Kirstie van Noort
Kirstie van Noort graduated from the Design Academy Eindhoven in 2011, from the Man and Well-Being department. She has been running her own research and design studio in Eindhoven since 2012.
In 2012, she received the Material Award for her design research in Cornwall on the production process of kaolin/white porcelain. She participated in numerous exhibitions and gave lectures around the world in which she explained her approach to her work. In 2014, she completed a two-month artist-in-residence program in Japan, where she conducted research on local porcelain production.
Kirstie currently collaborates with companies as a (materials) researcher. She sees design as a way to communicate a particular process or the story behind a material. When she by becomes immersed in either of these, she begins a detailed investigation. The results of this investigation convey the concept behind the final product; sometimes, the research itself becomes the final work.
