Precious Memories photo frames are designed simply and thoughtfully. They consist of only a few simple parts: a colored wooden block, a glass panel, an aluminum back plate and a wooden wedge to hold everything firmly in place. The wooden block is finished with a colored linseed oil for a subtle, natural look.

Besides the stylish design, the frames are also practical to use. They offer an easy way to place photos, drawings or postcards and are available in different sizes. by combining them with each other you can easily create your own personal landscape of memories, giving your favorite moments a visible and lasting place in your interior. The clever design makes it easy to change images, and the frame can be used both horizontally and vertically. An ideal way to give photos from your phone a lasting place!

The Precious Memories picture frames are designed by Isabel Quiroga. Isabel lives in Amsterdam where she has her workshop.

Isabel is known for her Design that combine imagination and functionality in a unique way. Her focus is on the purpose and practicality of a product, while her innovative approach always strikes a subtle balance between functionality and originality by Each design is carefully adapted and refined until it results in well-thought-out creations that excel in both form and function.

The Precious Memories picture frames are a wonderful example of Isabel's organic design process. As a collector of small materials, she had a collection of (leftover) wood blocks that eventually served as inspiration for the feet of the frames. by using different sizes and colors, the design offers the possibility to compose a personal landscape of memories. The picture frames invite you to experiment with combinations, making them perfect for a unique and personal presentation.

With this design, Isabel emphasizes the importance of tangible memories. by consciously choosing images to print, you take them away from the screen of your phone and make them part of your daily life. In this way, memories not only become visible, but also gain more meaning and depth.

The Precious Memories picture frames are officially part of our Vij5 since 2025. We have known Isabel Quiroga for years and regularly came across her at various exhibitions. Her work has always inspired us, so when Isabel approached us with her design for the Precious Memories photo frames, we immediately knew it would fit perfectly within our collection. The design fits seamlessly with our design vision by the beautiful simplicity and thoughtful details.

Isabel's idea behind the Precious Memories photo frames also immediately appealed to us: highlighting the value of beautiful memories. These picture frames offer an elegant way to present photographs, drawings, small works of art or postcards. The design literally places memories on a pedestal, with glass and aluminum holding the image firmly, supported by a wooden wedge. This clever and minimalist system makes it not only functional but also visually appealing.

Our collaboration began with a preview of Isabel's original handmade series during the 2024 design fair OBJECT Rotterdam. This series sold out within a short time, which was a clear signal for us to proceed with a production series. The enthusiasm of our visitors and customers confirmed that these photo frames are not only a wonderful addition to the Vij5, but also inspire people to make their memories tangible and valuable.

For the production series of the Precious Memories photo frames, we were able to build on a beautiful handmade series that Isabel had previously created. This gave us a strong base to further refine the design. As with many other products in the Vij5 we made a number of small adjustments in consultation with Isabel to make the design easier to produce and more affordable, without compromising the original look and quality. For example, we chose a different material for the back plate and had the wooden feet produced in fixed sizes. We also determined the colors together, which also created more overview in terms of stock management. Optimizations like these help us bring structure and calm to the production process, while staying true to the original design.

We then searched for the right partners to help us realize these picture frames. Finding the perfect producers is always essential to ensure the quality we stand for!

The base of the picture frames is made from a solid piece of FSC approved ash wood and is produced in Lithuania. It arrives untreated in our workshop in Eindhoven, where we manually coat the blocks with Satin Wood Oil (colored linseed oil from Denmark).

The wooden wedges are made of FSC approved pinewood and are made in our workshop in Eindhoven.

The glass panels are made of float glass, which has a very smooth surface without irregularities. Standard glass is not anti-reflective, which means that you can compare its reflection with that of window glass. The glass panels are made in Germany by a company that has more than 20 years of experience.

The aluminum panels are laser cut and made by our steel manufacturer in Duizel and then powder coated in Valkenswaard. Powder coating contains no hazardous solvents and the overspray is recycled, creating virtually no waste. This not only saves costs, but is also better for the environment compared to conventional liquid coatings, which produce hazardous waste.
