The Dressed Cabinet is a product you immediately fall in love with as soon as you see it "in action". You can 'dress up' this cabinet by weaving fabrics through and around the frame. By placing a weight at either end of the fabric, it comes under tension and this creates the final form and function of the design; open or closed, formal or playful, static or dynamic.

The Dressed Cabinets were designed by by Puck Dieben as a graduation project at the Design Academy Eindhoven. The cabinet was inspired by a childhood memory. As a little girl, Puck would build forts by , hanging bedding from her bunk bed. Towels served as sliding doors, and pillowcases doubled as storage compartments.

As a designer, Puck has brought back the joy she felt as a child building forts New . Through her design, she shows what fabrics can do for a simple shelving unit.

Puck Thieves

The Dressed Cabinet has been part of the Vij5 collection since 2017. The flexibility this cabinet offers and the endless variations that can be created with it make it a perfect Vij5 product.

When we got in touch with Puck, we were also very impressed by her positive and cheerful attitude, which led to a collaboration coming together quickly. Thanks to the high quality of the prototype Puck created for her graduation project, all we had to do was iron out a few (production) details and connect her with the right manufacturer. A New Vij5 product was born!

The metal frame of the Dressed Cabinet is manufactured a by , our steel manufacturer in Bergeijk.

The frame consists of separate parts, allowing the cabinet to be built in two different heights. Before we assemble the cabinet, the steel parts are powder-coated in a colour of your choice.

The fabric that can be woven into by is processed at by by our upholsterer in 's-Hertogenbosch.

Two stainless steel tubes with wooden caps have been added as weights; these are used to apply tension to the fabric.

In the material passport you can find where and by whom the different parts of this product are made.

For the fabric that can be woven around the frame of the cabinet by , we use the Kvadrat fabric “Canvas.” The blended yarn used to make Canvas combines three colours, with six shades in each colorway. This gives the fabric an exceptional richness of color. From a distance, it has the calm surface of a solid-color fabric. But as you get closer, shimmering color nuances, delicate contrasts, and an elegant texture emerge.

Upon request, other colours are also available from the beautiful Kvadrat Canvas collection; this can be customized for each cabinet!

The Dressed Cabinets are available in a number of standardcolours, but can also be ordered in a custom colour ! You can easily choose the Kvadrat fabric for each cabinet. We powder-coat the frame to order, which may incur an additional charge. Please contact us so we can work together to design the perfect cabinet for you!

At our studio in Den Bosch, near the home furnishings district and just two minutes from the A2, everything comes together: showroom, workshop, warehouse, and office. Most of the products from the Vij5 collection are on display here.
