The BL28 LED is a New, updated version of the well-known Copper & Brass Lights by David Derksen.

The shape of the lamp is constructed by folding a 0.3 mm thin brass plate. The lamp contains an LED light source and a diffuser that ensures a better and more even light output. Due to the reflection of the environment in the shiny brass surfaces, each facet gets its own color tone, from dark gold to yellow and beige.

The Brass Light is designed by David Derksen. He Created this New version of the lamp to meet current requirements in the field of lighting Design.

The technique used originates from his graduation project ‘Copper Cabinet’ and also forms the basis of his original Copper and Brass Lights, which are part of the Vij5 collection.

Nature, and especially the principles and processes found in nature, are David's main sources of inspiration. This results in a strong focus on materials, how they behave, and how they can be constructed.

The BL28 LED has been part of the Vij5 collection since 2019. We believe it is important to regularly analyze, redevelop and improve the products in our collection to ensure they continue to meet the current demands of our customers. Therefore we are pleased to introduce a new addition to the Brass Light range, designed by David Derksen. Derived from his original Copper Lights, which we have been intrigued by since the (almost legendary) Autofficina expo in Milan in 2010, this new version of the lamp is ready for the next decade.

Where the original series of Brass Lights use the more traditional E27 light sources, David created this New version of the lamp to meet current lighting design requirements.

The New lamp therefore contains an LED light source and a diffuser that ensures better and more even light output. The LED driver is integrated into the lamp and can therefore be connected directly to the 220V network.

The shape of the lamp has also been simplified and modernized, without losing the refined aesthetics of the original Brass Lights.

The ‘original’ versions of the Brass Lights are still available (on request).

The shape of the lamp is constructed by folding a 0.3 mm thin brass plate, by the bending lines into the material and then folding and assembling it by hand in Eindhoven.

The BL28 LED contains an LED light source and a diffuser that ensures a beautiful and even light output. The LED driver is integrated into the lamp and can therefore be connected directly to the 220V network.

In the material passport you can find where and by whom the different parts of this product are made.

Copper and brass naturally oxidize under the influence of air and moisture. Therefore, over time, this lamp will darken and develop a patina. This is part of the design, it will only make the lamp more beautiful!

We work from an easily accessible industrial hall (2 minutes from the A2) near the residential boulevard of Den Bosch. Most products can be seen here, but at the moment the showroom is in use for another large project.
