Refillable Candle | refillable designer candle made with rapeseed wax by Maarten Baptist

The 'Refillable Candle' series is a unique collection of candle holders, designed to make your own candles with rapeseed wax. The objects were designed by different designers, in honor of the 15th anniversary of Vij5. The basic idea is that you buy a candle holder once, which you can then keep using for a longer period of time by refilling it each time with rapeseed wax, a sustainable alternative to paraffin.

Maarten Baptist collaborated with a glassblower from Eindhoven to create a candleholder made of borosilicate glass. For his design, he drew inspiration from laboratory tubes, which typically serve as the basis for any shape made of borosilicate glass. Instead of blowing the glass into a specific shape, Maarten decided to make a “cut” in the tube and then bend this section outward, creating a striking handle. This gives the holder a unique architectural form that engages in a dialogue with the candle.

Each candle holder comes standard with a refill kit, consisting of approximately 600 grams of rapeseed wax (enough for 2 to 3 refills), a set of wicks, a wick holder, and instructions for use. When you run out of rapeseed wax pellets, you can order a new refill kit through our website at webshop .
