A nice overview
OBJECT was the perfect opportunity for us to showcase a large part of the (new) Vij5 collection together in a beautiful setting. We were there ourselves every day to provide visitors with information. It was great to see so many familiar and new faces again!
The beauty of the HAKA building
Our presentation was located on the second floor of the beautiful HAKA building: a completely stripped architectural monument dating back to the 1930s. The building is always a beautiful backdrop for our collection.
Highlights
Our presentation featured all the New products that have been added to the Vij5 collection in the past year:
Chaku (A handy coaster that supports different sizes of pots, pans and baking trays (and when you're not using it, it's a nice kitchen Accessory on a hook), designed by the Berlin design studio KellerFreyschmidt.)
Alf (A smart wall hook that offers space for 5 clothes hangers at the same time, designed by the Swedish Designer Gustav Rosén.)
Jute Light (A circularly produced lamp, made of a specially developed material that uses 50% jute fibers and 50% porcelain plaster, designed by Atelier LVDW from Rotterdam.)
Malda lamp (A cleverly constructed minimalist pendant lamp made from residual linoleum flows, designed by the South Korean Studio PESI.)
Plant Collectors (A plant stand and flower pot in one, designed by Vij5 founders Arjan van Raadshooven & Anieke Branderhorst.)
In addition, there were a number of New variations of existing products:
– A round version of the ‘s-Table (A sturdy and stable table thanks to a clear design and a clever wood construction, designed by Jeroen Wand.)
- A mirror-glass version of the Angled Cabinet (a display cabinet constructed with remarkable joints where all three beams share equal contact with each other, designed by Studio Thier & van Daalen).
– A special edition 1.5 meter version of the Coatrack by the Meter (A cleverly designed coat rack with minimal residual waste, designed by Maarten Baptist.)
Especially for OBJECT, we also showed previews of two New products:
– The new 18×36 Chair + table by Floris Hovers. This set is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. The chair owes its name to the dimensions of the profile of the slats (in mm) that were used for the construction. If you look closely, you will see that the furniture is constructed from all the same slats.
- The new Tangents Mirror by Jenna Postma. This mirror is playful in its simplicity. The metal frame at the back of the mirror leans nonchalantly against the wall and makes it easy for the mirror to stand. The frame also provides space for a number of clothes hangers. A subtle, graphic, and functional playground of lines.
Coming up
Every year, OBJECT settles down in an iconic building in or around Rotterdam, the designers themselves are present to explain their DESIGNs. The next edition of OBJECT Rotterdam is scheduled for 10-13 February 2022.
