Vij5 & Linseed oil

Arjan & Anieke, besides being the founders of the Vij5 collection, are ambassadors of Linoil & Pigment. An artisan company from Denmark that produces linseed oil paint and colored linseed oil based on old techniques and pure raw materials.

The website www.linolie.nl is the Dutch webshop which by us is managed. The products of this webshop are therefore shipped from Vij5.

In the Vij5 showroom in Den Bosch (from mid-October 2025) with Designer Interior Accessories and Furniture (open by appointment), sample material of Lin Oil & Pigment is available for inspection.

This indoor wall and ceiling paint bridges the gap between ancient knowledge and the modern user looking for a healthy and responsible paint. The name Aqualinum is a combination of the Latin "aqua" and "linum," as the paint is made up of an emulsion of water and linseed oil. The few ingredients (water, linseed oil, cellulose glue and pigment) have been combined to create a pure paint that omits all unnecessary chemistry.

Linseed oil paint, at its base, simply consists of linseed oil and pigment. This paint recipe has been used for centuries both indoors and outdoors and has many (environmentally friendly) benefits. The paint is mainly used for painting wood or iron and adheres well to both untreated substrates and substrates previously treated with linseed oil paint or other paints. Linseed oil paint optimally protects the substrate and allows the substrate to breathe.

The Linseed oil & Pigment products are produced according to old recipes and a proud artisanal tradition. The products create a connection with the time when things still needed time, because time ensures the best results.

All products use linseed oil as a binder, which ensures that the color pigment adheres to the substrate. linseed oil is made from flax seed, an inexhaustible natural resource and thus a good counterpart to petroleum, from which most regular paints are made. linseed oil is the best drying natural oil, making it a perfect binder in paint production.

To color the paint and oil, pigments are used that can be used both indoors and outdoors. The pigments come from various natural sources – from vegetable colors to, for example, soot. Sometimes fully or semi-synthetic pigments are used.
