Commissioned by theDutch Design Foundation & Renault, Vij5 was responsible for designing the new Business Lounge for Dutch Design Week (DDW) 2018. The Business Lounge was a temporary meeting space equipped with workspaces, Wi-Fi, and a coat check for visitors with a DDW Pro ticket. Several private lunches and meetings were also held in the rear area of the Business Lounge.
Temporary Intervention
For the occasion, we designed a temporary installation that complemented our design for thePress Center. Taking into account the exclusivity and functions of the spaces, we ensured that both locations had a temporary character as well as a high-end aesthetic, with a focus on sustainability and circularity.

Circle
In the Press Center, we created an architectural feature within the existing space using a large circle of 100% recycled and recyclable panels. In the Business Lounge, half of this circle was replicated, creating an inviting atmosphere and a distinct identity for the space. At the same time, this feature connected the various spaces to one another.
This concept was complemented by the temporary use of various items from the “ Vij5 ” collection, made from pure and sustainable materials.
New Vij5 product
For the Business Lounge Floris Hovers was commissioned by Vij5 to design a new bar stool, Tilt Bar Stool,which will be introduced later in the Vij5 collection.
After the event, the space was restored to its original condition. All design items were borrowed and returned afterward.
