KellerFreyschmidt
KellerFreyschmidt is the joint design studio of Lisa Keller and Fynn Freyschmidt. They met while studying at the University of the Arts Berlin and are now based in Viersen, Germany.
Lisa has extensive experience in ceramics, porcelain and tableware. As Head of Design at the Kahla porcelain manufacturer in Thuringia, she designed and developed tableware and other porcelain products. Today, she is Professor of Porcelain, Ceramic and Glass Design at Hochschule Niederrhein, where her work explores topics including the future of eating, sustainability and the relationship between tradition and new technology.
Fynn mainly focuses on furniture, lighting, accessories and material innovation. His background in interior architecture also brings a strong spatial perspective to their work. His hands-on approach and strong feel for materials and new applications complement Lisa’s focus on how products are used, shaped and made.
Together, they work on commissioned and self-initiated projects ranging from product and interior design to strategic design consultancy. Their designs often grow out of observations from everyday life, looking for new yet intuitive solutions to familiar situations.
Their focus is not only on how a product looks, but especially on how it is used and how it becomes part of everyday life. KellerFreyschmidt creates functional objects that leave room for personal interpretation and adapt easily to different ways of living.
