Thier & van Daalen
Studio Thier&vanDaalen was founded by Iris van Daalen ('85) and Ruben Thier ('87). After graduating from the Design Academy Eindhoven in 2010, they started their own design studio in the summer of 2011 in Eindhoven.
In their work they share a fascination for light, reflections and the transience of nature, in which geometric and organic forms play an important role. They see it as a challenge to get to grips with these phenomena, to abstract them and translate them into new designs for lighting, furniture, accessories and unique objects. Through extensive research and experimentation with different materials, hands-on new designs are created. Through the combination of various techniques they discover and exploit the full potential in which innovation and elegance come together.
Ruben and Iris' fascinations and curiosity can be traced back to their motto of not taking the world for granted. By consciously dealing with materials, their environment and origin, they create designs that you can cherish for a long time.
