Description

This year we have something new in the Spring Sale: we offer you the possibility to repair a (ceramic) item yourself! For this we have joined forces with Humade, an innovative design studio from Amsterdam founded by sisters Lotte & Gieke, who together create sustainable products and creative DIY solutions with a unique story.

Humade created the original New Kintsugi Repair Kit to encourage mending broken artifacts instead of throwing them away. Even more so: instead of focusing on its flaws, the golden seams emphasize the cracks and thus celebrate the beauty of imperfection. By repairing an object, the product becomes unique and personal.

The Kintsugi Repair Kit contains:

- Two-component adhesive, gold or silver powder, a brush, bamboo sticks and gloves

- Kneadable filler to fill in missing pieces

- A step-by-step guide with detailed illustrations

Kintsugi originated in the late 15th century when the Emperor of Japan sent his damaged pottery back to China for repair. Upon his return, the emperor saw that ceramics were being repaired with metal staples. He immediately instructed his craftsmen to think of something more aesthetic. The result: kintsugi (gold repair). The art of kintsugi became so popular that collectors began deliberately destroying valuable pottery... so that it could be repaired with the gold seams of kintsugi.

- The New Kintsugi Repair Kit can be used on almost any other material, such as glass, wood, marble or hard plastics.

- Please read the manual of the Kintsugi Kit before use.

- When you're done, let it dry for 48 hours so the glue can fully harden and then your product is ready to use again!
